True. I was thinking in the sense of pre-requirement: "In order to use
GNUmed you have to run Posix-compliant shell!"

I understand that it isn't being higher-level language.

However, rewriting shell scripts in Python would eliminate problem of
'shell-compatibility'.

I was asking in #python about the problem and was told that Python can
do it and the following module was recommended to me -
http://docs.python.org/lib/module-subprocess.html to take a look at.

So, if you don't mind I can try write some Python code and replace shell
scripts - good exercise for learning Python ?
