Also, presently,  one can see and change the kind of encounter while working 
(and before saving the new work) only during new notes entry in the Notes 
plugin.

If for example, outside of a patient new visit, I would attach a document to a 
patient's record, then the kind of encounter that I may like to register may be 
different from

        - whatever might have been recent-but-not-yet-expired, or
        - default

yet there is no prompt or clue as to what is being written in the background as 
the encounter type.

Can we move it outside the plugins, to make the active encounter more reliably

        visible
        alterable

Visible could be achieved -- see screenshot blue rectangles -- in positions

        (1) trailing information inside the [user @ workplace] window bar 
title, or
        (4) a new section of information inside the status line

but it would be even better to be able to place it in position (2) or (3) and 
make it alterable. Maybe it could accept focus like any other normal field and 
offer a dropdown phrasewheel with existing encounter types from which to 
choose. This would be easier than having to pop-open some other window such as 
is the current method for editing allergy information.
