When that method returns nil, it means that the argument is not a UTF8 string.
So the problem is not caused by the +stringWithUTF8String: method ... it's 
caused by whatever is supplying the argument.

So the next questions you need to ask are:
What is *actually* being supplied as  the argument?. What is producing that 
argument?  Why is the code that's providing the argument not providing a UTF8 
string?
