I am currently in an environment where I am effectively the
(volunteer) CEO of a small organization, so I get to do pretty
much what I want. But see below.

I am also retired. But still in my current volunteer
position, even though I'm at the top of the food chain, I have
to deal with the ingrained MS culture among the office staff
and the other directors. The problem is very little with
email exchange, though--- it's primarily document exchange,
with one director insisting on using Word as a page layout
program.

However --- pre-retirement --- I was able to do quite well
running Linux in a scientific lab environment where people
sort of did what they want. There were some issues with Word
and Powerpoint but by and large it worked out. In fact it was
at that Lab that a colleague got me started on Gnus. I had
always thought of Gnus as big and wild and untamed. I wasn't
wrong, but the colleague showed me that with some effort there
were great advantages to be had.

Of course in a typical corporate setting that indeed would
have been problematic.
