Most clients want to keep has few as possible open connections. It is
not only for emule clients. If there are 10000 downloaders for a file,
you don't want 10000 open connections on your mldonkey for them to
wait in your upload queue ? So clients have to disconnect and
reconnect regularly. However, when a slot is open, the first client
connecting wins the slot (in edonkey and mldonkey), which allows
queue-jumping by setting a very short reask-delay. Simon is working on
that currently, and it will probably be commited to CVS tonight
(finally, mldonkey will ban emule clients for connecting too often !).

Thus, if you want to connect less often, you will probably lose some slots...
