Charles,

I got it patched this morning finally, and it works fine.  Thanks!

I'm an out of work .com person, so I have quite a bit of time on my hands.  I'm pretty good with database design, and I've been following the thread about leveraging multiple news servers to speed ddownloads, and provide more complete binaries.

Back in the old days, I used to use NewsBin Pro, and this was it's prime feature.  It could consolidate a set of headers from multiple newsgroups, even on the same server, and then task the downloading to each newsgroup/server to complete the requested tasks.

This has been a feature I've been interested in for some time, and would like to offer my services in bringing this feature to pan.  I just don't know where I'd start attempting to implement this. Is there something I can do to help?

Another nice feature of NewsBin pro that should be easier to implement was the ability to eliminate ie.. not save images in a download directory that were exact duplicates.  How difficult, or where would I look to add a few lines of code that would check for duplicate filenames (already done with the _copy_ tags) and a CRC-64 checksum on a selected saved file with the the temporary downloaded file, before it's saved?

I've got a routine I've implemented in Perl that does this exact thing, so translating it to C won't be a problem.

Thanks again!
Lee

Hi Lee,

This is fixed in CVS now. The patch is available at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106078 .

The bug was introduced when I worked on
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104155 ;
the problem was that I only tested in text groups, where
the articles fetched so quickly that the duplicate never
showed up in the taskbar.

cheers,
Charles
