the most economical hosts i have seen, only support a pre-defined
set of LTS OSes - i assume that is because the VM systems are
copy-on-write, saving a large amount of disk space on the host
system - ive not used many of them myself; but the ones ive
used, had very limited OS options

the general difference i see, is that the services offered by
larger companies like amazon and google, are designed to be
maximally versatile - resources (CPU, disk, network usage) are
metered finely-grained, accommodating flexible usage of each
resource independently; where the economy hosts offer only a
small set of usage plans, with well-defined caps on each
resource as "package", and fixed system configurations
