| I guess you have that udev/dbus/hotplug/hal thing doing
| the mount for you, i think that is Gnome standard today.

I'm not speaking of removable devices.
I am talking about plain simplae ext3 or reiser harddisk partitions.
Those i need are of cousre mounted at boot-time; however, there
are many more where i occsianally like to look into, mainly to examine
some configuration (like parallel installed Linux or Windows) and which
i use to keep unmounted by default, well, that goes back to the ancient
times where i made funny mistakes like moving /bin into some unknown
place :) and i learned that it helps to limit things to the necessary.
Anyway. So, there are partitions where i can test the device icons on.
And if i click on one of these, gcmd pops up the 'mounting....' widget so i
assume it's him doing it. I'm pretty sure since i always have to mount these
partitions manually, anyway that is the point of havin oauto`in fstab, right ?
And i know roughly what udev is doing, so far, i had to tweak it several times
for icky camera or usbstick devices (until they fixed that) in the beginning.
I have kernel automounter v4 enabled, but not installed any userspace
application
that would call it (AFAIK;)...I'm also not running gnome-desktop at all,
no session-manager, no dbus, no hald, just in case you consider they might
have changed something below my radar screen.
I only launch the gnome-settings-daemon with --sm-disable --oaf=private
and that (and also gcmd) launch gconf daemon, that's all.

Try to find anything that would provide another interpretation,
