lynx-dev rc save bug (was comments etc)

i looked at the  man  entries: 

 trace : "monitor variable access" : this doesn't look like what we need;
 strace : "print STREAMS trace msgs" : i can try this ...
 truss : no  man  file.

are there any others?  this is a well-equipped site with fast hardware,
but the sysadmin is very overworked & generally unavailable.
