This is a gross understatement! I want to thank Hiroyuki for taking the
jump and making his efforts known, and Doug, also, for taking the time
to find the gems. Some of the improvements to Lynx are outlined in:
    ftp://crab.it.osha.sut.ac.jp/pub/Win32/develope/senshu/Lynx/HIST-J.TXT
Unfortunately I simply do not have the time to act as a translator, but
in general the QUALITY of the work _speaks for itself_. Probably Hiroyuki
has moved the Win32 port to front-line development. In some ways it may
surpass the general code set. Note that it should be possible to compile
Lynx with either Borland C++ ver 5.02, which Hiroyuki uses, or Visual C++
ver 4. If you're having trouble compiling with either of these, you might
direct questions to Hiroyuki (keep it concise and non-idiomatic) or read
some of his development code.

I don't know if it helps, but the key to Hiroyuki's Lynx references are:
 1. Lynx_w32J ??specific to his port)
 2. Lynx_w32_us ??specific to the public distributions in the US)
 3. Lynx_w32 ??applies to both 1 and 2??
 4. Lynx ??not specific to any OS, Lynx in general)
In his ftp://crab.it.osha.sut.ac.jp/pub/Win32/develope/senshu/Lynx/README.TXT
file he lists 51 improvements (some of them are more like major overhauls) to
his port, as well as providing a complete installation guide along with tips.
To introduce a few of the no-joke features:
   1. ability to stop data transfer with a keystroke (z, ESC, ^C, ^G )
   5. use the clipboard (^S to copy a URL, ^W to paste it)
  20. do away with the calls to cp.exe and mv.exe to increase speed
  47. allow use of Windows 95's EDIT.COM for external editing [better yet, Vz]
  49. allow the cancelling of warning messages with a keystroke
  50. strengthen the ability to catch errors when allocating memory
It just goes on and on.

One more _experimental_ development off-shoot by a different author is a
Lynx patched to do voice rendering. It works with the clipboard reader
from IBM, ProTALKER 97. The author is making attempts to get it to work
with 95Reader in clipboard mode and is soliciting help with this.
