Yeah, specifically about problems where the vagaries of the specific
system might not match some of the dependencies compiled into that
binary, however common they might be on Linux with GNU libc elsewhere.

If you need to build from source to work around this, especially on
systems with odd/old local dependencies without affecting the other
parts of the base system that perhaps have to be kept that way for
other reasons, pkgsrc might make that easier.  It will install its own
sets of dependencies if needed, without entangling with the existing
platform.
