Follow-up Comment #6, patch #5402 (project pspp):

Actually, the "percent" function is ignored in cmd_rank, too, causing it to
increment sbc_rank to get ordinary ranks.  But no rank_spec is created, so we
don't end up with any ranking or any rank variables.

The algorithm used in new_variable_name doesn't seem to match that specified
in the SPSS 14 documentation, which says that only the first character of the
function name is used barring collisions.
