Follow-up Comment #7, patch #5402 (project pspp):

I'm aware that the variable name creation code, and some of the finer points
of the subcommands' semantic interpretation need to be revisited.  Also, the
BY option isn't supported yet.

I've got deeper concerns about what happens when SPLIT FILE is active and, in
general, about how safe the code's messing with the active file and default
dict is going to be.
