Today I had a look on gmEditArea3 - it looks quite promising. However, IMHO
there are some issues that has to be fixed before we integrate it into the
GnuMed main tree: 
1- widget placement/alignment is still somewhat ugly and therefore not even
at the same level as the current (Richard's) EditArea. 
2 - there is almost no documentation to the code which makes it quite
difficult to understand the way the different parts interact 
3- we have to make sure that the internal logic that manages the
dependencies between single entry fields can handle all relevant cases 
4- As far as I understood the consensus for backend interaction was that the
GUI should interact only through business-objects with the backend, not by
way of direct sql-queries. Maybe we should separate out  the part that deals
with the backend to a business-object. 
In my opinion gmEditArea3 will need some serious testing and bugfixing to
make it stable enough so that we can set up the remaining widgets on top of it.
