I need to emphasise here that this is the 'Big MIMS', ie the reference data,
ie a drug browser data, not the day to day prescribing data which is in an
entirely different format, so I hope others have not got their hopes up about
that. I'm sure Horst, Ian and any Australian GP's will have understood that,
if not please stand corrected.

IE the data we have access to will allow us to browse the full product
information via HTML style with search by name, or display drug lists by
condition (eg all anti-depressants etc), but the data is not granular for
prescribing.

I will run a request through to them about old data for tprescribing but I
hadn't given it a thought as I assumed the answer would be no.

>BTW, are we free to use the *data* they provide in *our*
>structure - eg can we import the data into drugref ?

There has been no stipulation to the contrary, but as mentioned above it is
not in the form you will be able to anyway for prescribing. The only rider is
that the data provided by them to us must be at least 6 months old. I will
clarify.

>HILMER:Does this actually mean that we and everybody else can use and
distribute the >data without restriction ? Or is there some disclaimer like
"you are allowed >to use but not to sell and change". In other words, do we
need/get some >license attached to the data or is this a late christmas
present ?

The oral converstation was that it was provided for use provided it was 6
months old and there were no particular stipulations, and I have been
provided the password to their FTP site to get it.

However before doing so I will clarify some of the points being raised by my
posting with MIMS . Lets hope it is a late christmas present *(But again note
it is the Mims Annual reference data, not the prescribing data).

REgards

Richard
