I have grouped some things to keep in mind and/or ideas on how best to use EQN in the one section.

Has anybody got their own I should add?

Does anybody disagree violently with mine?

=>

Use spaces and newlines liberally to clarify expressions! Never use TABS.

Very long lines in the input to EQN must be avoided. They always reduce readability and can annoyingly hide hard-to-fix bugs.

Embrace, i.e. with { ... } several things together to make one's intentions more obvious.

Use define 's to simplify expressions and reduce clutter.

Since \*(eQ is tuned for roman, italic and bold, other fonts may not
give quite as good an appearance.

A minus sign normal text is \-

If using groff with a $ delimiter, use its symbol \[Do] when a real
dollar sign sign is required within normal text.

Before an equation block, add troff comments, i.e. lines beginning
with .\" for comments about that block.

A trivial use of EQN to produce an in-line mathematics symbol may be better done using one of the troff special characters seen in Appendix A or the groff special characters of groff_char (7) Importantly, a slightly more compact alternative to the EQN keyword half , is the troff symbol \(12, or its groff equivalent \[12].

Long equations must be split up across multiple lines manually, each Remember that \*(eQ does not break equations by itself,

Above all, avoid complexity - Keep it simple!!
