Hi Duncan,

Thanks for that advice.

I installed ngrep and am working on understanding how to use it to
debug this nntp triplicate-posting problem.

By way of advice to others on RHEL6 derived Linuxes (I'm on Centos 6),
it's found in the epel and rpmforge repositories:

$ yum --noplugins --showduplicates --enablerepo \* --disablerepo
c6-media,\*-source,\*debug\* provides "*/ngrep"

REPORTED:
ngrep-1.45-7.el6.x86_64 : Network layer grep tool
Repo: epel Matched from Filename: /usr/sbin/ngrep

ngrep-1.45-1.el6.rf.x86_64 : Realtime network grep tool
Repo: rpmforge Matched from Filename: /usr/sbin/ngrep

ngrep-1.45-2.el6.rf.x86_64 : Realtime network grep tool
Repo: rpmforge Matched from:Filename: /usr/sbin/ngrep

$ sudo yum --enablerepo=epel install ngrep -y
REPORTED:
Installed: ngrep.x86_64 0:1.45-7.el6

$ which ngrep
REPORTED:
/usr/sbin/ngrep

$ man ngrep
(reading the man page for hints on how to use it)
