We don't want users buying web hosting to host their GNU Social installs. If we do that, it becomes (effectively) a
service, that they have to
pay for to use. That simply should not have to happen.
And how else are people doing to get this service provided for them unless they are "giving" away their data for others to use to sell stuff to them - IT COSTS to have anything hosted.
I would rather have a world where I pay a small fee to have it be "mine" then get a "free" service where I am selling my data for service.
