I did not either inteded to "storm" :), just pointing out a few reasons
about why ftp is not so good but works best in some cases :)

That is, imho, one of the strengths of duplicity, i.e. you can have scp
for secure transfer and bare ftp for speed. Sounds like a win-win to me,
despite the fact you might have to lose a few hair on ftp quirky
implementations...

I must say that the ncftp-based backend is working like a charm for me,
so keep up the good work !
