Themes are simple text files which specify colurs and stuff.
I have found installing under $HOME/.gtkrc works but this may have 
changed in later versions of gnome, as it now supports dynamic theme 
changes.

No, this is the beauty of wxPython, we are totally insulated from these 
changes.

Fair enough, Qt is off the menu. Horst appears resolved to his own GUI,
but it appears his modules will largely be compatible with those 
existing, so I think we'll muddle through.
