Whats wrong with using screen?
Or just another console?
Or CTRL+z; bg; "whatever you want to do"; fg; ?

But I'd linke to execute commands from the Webinterface. Like a look at 
my free space with "df" or a "rm MOVIE.AVI".
I think that would be nice...
