Wow, thanks, this is extremely helpful!

It really shows what Pan is doing!  For example, If the body 
of one of the problem articles is requested again, Pan doesn't 
send anything to the server (except maybe just MODE READER) 
and only tries, unsuccessfully, to get it from the article cache.

Ethereal verifies this.
