I'm still seeing serious instability in 0.1.3a. I'm new to this list, but
having checked most of the archives on Savannah, I still don't see any
solution to the hang listed in various bugs. I've changed the close(fd++)
call in closeall() to close-on-exec (suggestion
http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/spamass-milt-list/2002-11/msg00005.html )
and the crashes are down to twice a day,

I believe it's similar to
http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?func=detailbug&bug_id=2403&group_id=1083
http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?func=detailbug&bug_id=1099&group_id=1083,
http://savannah.nongnu.org/support/?func=detailsupport&support_id=101558&group_id=1083

Basically, I'll get some random email in:

Jun  3 11:48:13 mail2 sendmail[4991]: h53ImCMc004991:
from=<address@hidden>, size=3196, class=0, nrcpts=1,
msgid=MID-68812-609284, proto=SMTP, daemon=MTA,
relay=mtsbp648.email-info.net [64.253.203.71]
Jun  3 11:52:13 mail2 sendmail[4991]: h53ImCMc004991: Milter
(spamass-milter): timeout before data read
Jun  3 11:52:13 mail2 sendmail[4991]: h53ImCMc004991: Milter
(spamass-milter): to error state
Jun  3 11:52:15 mail2 sendmail[5066]: h53ImCMc004991:
address@hidden, delay=00:04:03, xdelay=00:00:02, mailer=esmtp,
pri=33402, relay=server.hmc.edu. [134.173.32.75], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent
(h53IqDvN002369 Message accepted for delivery)

And subsequent emails fail:

249316  Jun  3 11:52:17 mail2 sendmail[4995]: h53ImHMc004995: Milter
(spamass-milter): timeout before data read
249317  Jun  3 11:52:17 mail2 sendmail[4995]: h53ImHMc004995: Milter
(spamass-milter): to error state
249318  Jun  3 11:52:17 mail2 sendmail[4995]: h53ImHMc004995: Milter
(spamass-milter): init failed to open
249319  Jun  3 11:52:17 mail2 sendmail[4995]: h53ImHMc004995: Milter
(spamass-milter): to error state

Subsequent emails will be rejected (temporary failure) until the milter is
restarted.

Have I missed something in the archives, and this is fixed? Or is this
still an open issue?

Because I know Chuck loves the system information from reading the
OpenBSD lists, the system is a dual p3 running redhat 7.3, sendmail
8.12.9, and spamassassin 2.55.
