Microsoft's .NET initiative is a threat to Free Software and
even Freedom in general.  The DotGNU project is a response to
these threats.  We do not support what Microsoft is doing,  and
we do not imitate it.  Rather we compete with it by lauching a
project that will have the same and better benefits to end users
and business customers, but which avoids giving any single
company or organization monopoly-like power over user data and
authentication like Microsoft's system does. Please visit the
