Well, what I meant by "rejecting Microsoft's authority" was not so much
rejecting their legal authority as it was rejecting their ethical
authority to do such a thing.  Yes, I recognize the license irony here,
however, it's not the same thing.  The GPL doesn't restrict people from
taking generic ideas from GPL'ed programs and turning them into
proprietary code (as long as the code is not from the GPL'ed program). 
In this way, Microsoft is using their license to control the behaviour
of people - and I ethically reject their authority to do that.  What's
next?  A Microsoft license stating that anyone who uses Microsoft
software can't develop Free Software?  I mean, it's the same thing as
Microsoft stating that anyone using Microsoft software agrees to drink
Coca-Cola for the rest of their life.
