Thanks everyone, it has been most helpful, here is my plan for the next 
2-12 weeks:


In 2-4 weeks work with:

        Tony Lembke to
                reorganize gnumed.org web site directory hierarchy
                implement epydoc to generate source code extract docs
                (with e.g. Hilmar's help if available & needed)

        Horst or Karsten (?) to relocate the TWiki
        (David Grant's server will be shutting down at end of term)

Over weeks 4-8 at wiki

        bring wiki layout into line with new gnumed.org layout

        add table of contents to permit automated download of html
        (consult e.g. Engelbert)

        explore (pilot test?) automated download of html

Over weeks 8-12

        freeze developer manual

        reconstruct developer manual at wiki

        enable download of devel manual's html for offline use

        stub / point CVS version to wiki

Future

        pre-plan approach to user manual documentation

        until then, do little user manual updating except Installation

        consider how the PostgreSQL table layouts is best communicated
