yes, but that is the same as with gcc, whose first compilation in
history, of course, was done with a non-free C compiler.

Mono situation is the same. Now that it can compile itself, M$ software
is only needed to make the first compilation. After that, mcs will
compile itself for all the future years, as does gcc.
