I know and I believe it's a valid suggestion. I think we a)
will benefit from switching and b) when we switch should
carefully consider what to switch to.

Well, "codepage problems" are inherent to the whole affair
and not a problem created by specifics of GNUmed. It was
decided long ago that GNUmed should strive to support
medicine in as many languages as doctors need.
